Lindemulder Competes at Grinnell
Grinnell, IA -- Indian Hills Community College cross country coach Jim Streeby has four of his cross country athletes running in track meets this spring for what the coach calls “fun and a little speed work.”
Streeby says the focus is on running only distance events, from the 3000 meters up to 10,000 meters, and all four runners showed improvement at this past weekend’s Dick Young Classic in Grinnell.
In the women’s 5000 meters, freshman Sarah Lindemulder took 14 seconds off her time from the Central College meet earlier in the spring. Her time at Grinnell was 21:17.21.
There were a number of four-year schools from Iowa, Nebraska and Colorado in the Grinnell meet.

Bronson and Lawson Sparkle in Final Meet for IHCC
OTTUMWA --- Some career-best times highlighted the Indian Hills cross country team’s performance at their season-ending meet last Saturday. The Warriors men’s and women’s squads ended the fall campaign at the NJCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Peoria, Illinois.
Indian Hills sophomores Rachel Bronson and Brittany Lawson both had their best-ever times in closing out their IHCC careers.
Bronson’s time for the women’s 5K race was 23:09, almost two-and-a-half minutes faster than her previous best time this year and four minutes better than her time at the national championship last year.
Lawson ran 23:41 which was 1:27 better than her fastest time this year and over two minutes better than her time when she started her career.
IHCC coach Jim Streeby said, “These two sophomores are what Indian Hills is all about – small town Iowa girls, working hard to survive academically and financially while trying to become better runners. They are first-class ladies and lots of fun to have around. It has been my pleasure to get to know them and I will miss them a lot.”
The other IHCC women’s runner to take part in the meet was freshman Sarah Lindemulder who just missed her best time of the year. Lindemulder’s time was 22:20.
